Alok was formerly President & CFO of SoftBank Group International and Chief Strategy Officer for SoftBank Group. His responsibilities included corporate development, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), proprietary investments, and investor relations. While at SoftBank, Alok led the $59bn merger of Sprint and T-Mobile, the $34bn acquisition of ARM Holdings Plc, the $10bn disposition of SoftBank's stake in Alibaba Group Holding, the $8.6bn sale of Supercell Oy to Tencent Holdings, and the restructuring of SoftBank’s holding in Yahoo Japan.
He was also responsible for multiple growth capital investments across various technology verticals, including ride-sharing, fintech, and communications.
Alok was a Board member at Arm Holdings, Fortress Investment Group, SoFi, Brightstar Corp, Softbank Energy, SoftBank Group Capital, and Airtel Africa.
Alok was formerly a senior Managing Director at Morgan Stanley. While at Morgan Stanley, he led the firm's communications practice in Europe and the TMT practice in the Asia-Pacific region. He also established Morgan Stanley's capital markets business in Asia and the investment banking practice in India.
Alok also co-founded Baer Capital Partners, an alternative asset management firm focused on India with over $300mm in assets, in partnership with the Baer family and Dubai Holdings.
He is a member of the CNBC Global CFO Council and a former Chairman of the London Chapter of the Young Presidents' Organization (YPO).
Alok holds an MFA in Creative Writing from New York University, an MBA in Finance from The Wharton School, and a BA (Hon) in Mathematics from St. Stephen’s College.
He has been married for almost forty years to Maya. They have two children, Samir and Alya, both of whom are residents of New York.
